This course is built around the long teaching case Become Judy. You begin with how a cross-border creator noticed a market opportunity, then move through decisions, strategy, organization, talent, operations, marketing, cash, control, and change before proposing a company-building blueprint that could actually operate.

Case note: Become Judy is used here as a teaching case. The material was prepared by Associate Professor Hsiang-Hsun Wu of Yuan Ze University in collaboration with Codex, mainly from public videos, public reports, and publicly verifiable materials. Judy has not approved this case, and neither Judy nor people around her were interviewed. The learning purpose is to study management decisions and company building, not to judge the people involved.

Sign in using that activation notice, check your profile and group status, and then request or confirm a group as announced by the instructor. When peer evaluation opens, complete specific feedback for the peers assigned by the system before the deadline. If you need to withdraw and resubmit a grouping request, follow the options shown on the platform.
This is not a course about watching a YouTuber. It is a course about turning real entrepreneurial clues into management systems. Each week moves the case forward and asks you to convert management concepts into executable company design.
The semester moves from noticing opportunity to making the company manageable.
Narrative Arc
Start with individual content creation and read market signals from audience response.
Convert opportunity into goals and decide what the company should become.
Sort diversification choices across content, cheerleading, sponsorships, and event services.
Build organization, people systems, operations, and quality control so service can be delivered reliably.
Handle cash, leadership, ethics, risk, and control so growth does not depend only on the founder.
End with your own version of the company-building blueprint.
You should be able to explain that market opportunity is not simply "I like it" or "the audience likes it." It is built from demand, supply, competition, channels, revenue sources, and constraints.
Outcome 2: Designing Systems
You should be able to turn division of work, talent management, content quality, customer delivery, financial pressure, and risk control into processes, roles, and metrics.
The final recommendation should not stop at "expand" or "be conservative." It must specify the business model choice and the management capabilities that must be built next.
The long case provides the public case context, industry background, and management questions that still require judgment. The short case turns one high-tension decision into a dialogue-driven scene. The course uses the long case as the core and the short case as a decision simulation entry point. Read both with four roles in view: the creator or public brand, the party making the external promise or transaction, the people performing the work, and the party receiving money or bearing consequences. These roles may belong to one person, several people, or different organizations.
The long case moves from travel videos, channel growth, cross-border cheerleading supply, Taiwanese sports-entertainment demand, YouTuber monetization pressure, talent contracts, and cash pressure. It asks: when one person's content energy begins to look like a company opportunity, should the manager expand, institutionalize, or narrow the business model first? Public registration data in the case is used only as a dated, narrow record; it does not assign every activity to one particular legal entity.
The short case simplifies the context into one scene: a founder faces a team contract that could sharply increase visibility, while also adding pressure on people, rehearsals, content, cash, and morale. The dialogue reveals how the same decision looks different to the founder, operations lead, captain, brand side, and financial advisor.
When can a creator's audience asset become a company asset?
How can a cross-border entrepreneur read local demand instead of simply importing practices from the home market?
When cheerleading work involves teams, performers, media, fans, and brands, who is the real customer?
When traffic revenue cannot support the team, how should sponsorships, events, agency work, and services be combined?
How does the founder move from being the trusted person to designing systems that others can rely on?
Case ecosystem: platforms, fans, teams, brands, media, performers, and cross-border partners pull on one another.
Week 1 is the orientation week. Weeks 4 and 8 are self-directed because of holidays; the Week 4 assignment is merged with Week 5, and Week 8 has an individual assignment due October 25. In Week 9, the midterm exam takes the first 90 minutes and the second 90 minutes cover the Week 8 content (organization design); the Midterm Progress Package and the midterm progress review are postponed, and the new schedule will be announced later. Week 16 is the final exam, and its dashboard chapter is covered in Week 15. Weeks 17 and 18 are flexible teaching weeks, but classes meet as usual. Each week you read one chapter and produce one artifact that the next week builds on; in Week 18 all the artifacts go into one company blueprint. Textbook and assignment animations (Chinese and English) appear next to each week’s “Read weekly handout” link once they are published.
Open a week to see its discussion focus, reading, preparation, in-class work, assignment, and self-learning.
Semester dates: Week 1 begins on September 7, 2026. Week 4 (September 28, Teachers' Day holiday) and Week 8 (October 26, Retrocession Day make-up holiday) are self-directed learning weeks. The final exam remains scheduled for Week 16 on December 21; Weeks 17 and 18 are flexible teaching weeks, but classes will meet as usual, and the semester officially ends on January 4, 2027. Pre-class assignments are due at 23:59 (Taiwan time) on the Sunday before class; the final company blueprint is due Monday, January 4, 2027, 23:59.
How the Project Builds Toward the Final
Your team project runs through the whole semester. Each week helps you understand one more piece of the case company and leaves one artifact. In Week 17 your team writes a final decision memo, and in Week 18 all the artifacts go into one company blueprint that another manager could use to run your version of the Judy company.
This is a cross-cultural course with one shared project. The class includes 61 students, including 37 international students from 13 nationalities. Different passports do not automatically create a good team. Teams are formed around communication, reliability, mutual support, and visible work from every member—not around finding the strongest English speaker.
Semester teams are not fixed on Day 1. The first weeks use temporary groups and short tasks to see how classmates communicate and work together; formal teams start in Week 5 (October 5).
時間When
安排Arrangement
What You Do
Weeks 1–3
Temporary groups for short tasks with different classmates
Leave your own evidence and judgment, and observe communication, reliability, and mutual support.
Week 5
Formal teams decided (October 5)
Sit with your formal team and agree on a team name and a Recorder; from then on, the team completes the in-class worksheets together.
Week 9 onward
Project checks and deeper work
Use evidence, assumptions, data gaps, and individual contributions to keep revising, up to the Week 18 company blueprint.
Week 13
Team risk and contribution check
Each student fills in a separate Microsoft Form alone; if roles or participation are not working, tell the instructor early.
A good team does not depend on one “best English speaker” doing all the communication. Every member needs a visible role. Roles can rotate, and helping is expected, but one person should not do all the work for others.
Types into the web worksheet on the team’s one device while everyone thinks. Before leaving, downloads the .txt and uploads it to their own student-ID folder in the hand-in folder; other members do not upload it again. Team assignments are normally submitted by the Recorder too.
After the teacher announces the AI stage, operates AI on the team’s device; the whole team discusses the questions AI asks and decides whether to revise.
Discussion Protocol
Write your own judgment first, then bring the evidence into the team. This lowers the pressure of speaking English on the spot and keeps one person from speaking for everyone.
Write alone: record your evidence and tentative judgment.
Talk in pairs: explain once and check shared understanding.
Team summary: explain why the team agrees or disagrees.
Cross-team challenge: test the idea through questions from another team.
Revise: improve the work based on evidence and questions.
Team Health: Speak Up Early
A quiet team is not always a healthy team. Formal teams start in Week 5; the midterm package is postponed, and its review date will be announced later; in Week 13 each student fills in a separate team risk and contribution check (a Microsoft Form completed individually; the link is in the Teams announcement). Tell the instructor early if you do not understand the team direction, cannot join the discussion, see one person doing everything, or feel excluded.
Week 1
Evidence record: sort statements about the case into evidence, inference, and unknown, with sources others can check and what would change each entry.
Goal tree: choose one direction to test for 12 weeks and write the goal, what waits, what gets time and money, who decides and who can pause, and the signals and red lines.
Midterm Progress Package (team): a one-page management judgment, an evidence table, a business portfolio map, an initial operating plan, and a verification list. What counts is clear evidence, testable assumptions, and explicit data gaps. It was planned for Week 9 and is postponed; the new schedule will be announced later.
Midterm check
Week 13
Cash calendar: find the lowest cash point and its distance from the floor, and decide who waits when a payment arrives late.
Company blueprint (team, 12% of the grade): place every artifact in six parts and an evidence appendix, and pass the inheritance test. Due Monday, January 4, 2027, 23:59.
The item dated September 6, 2026 is for demonstration only and does not need to be submitted. The item shown in Teams with a September 6 deadline is used in class to demonstrate how assignments and Rubrics work. It is not a formal student assignment, is not graded, and is not subject to the late policy. Follow the latest weekly assignment posted in Teams for the actual requirements.
General Assignment Rules
These are the shared baseline rules for individual and team assignments. Each weekly Teams assignment will state the required tool, file format, AI-use mode, deadline, and Rubric focus. When a weekly instruction is more specific, follow the instructor's latest Teams assignment.
Individual Work
Submit your own work; both the assignment and the log must identify your student ID and official Chinese name.
Keep your first judgment, evidence, verification, and reasons for revising or rejecting an idea.
If AI is used, record the tool, date, purpose, verification, and personal revisions as instructed. If AI is not used, state that clearly and record your own reasoning process.
Team Work
Normally the Recorder submits for the team, but the assignment must list every member's student ID and official Chinese name.
Record roles, actual contributions, and shared decisions; one person may not do the entire team assignment for everyone.
If members use AI differently, the shared log must identify each member's use or non-use statement and traceable record.
Shared Requirement
What to Check
Unless the weekly Teams assignment says otherwise, submit the assignment and work log together; follow the weekly format and naming instructions.
Evidence and sources
Connect important judgments to case evidence or checkable external sources; label gaps instead of inventing numbers or citations.
Format gate and lateness
AI」。If the assignment, log, full member list, or required AI evidence is missing, resubmit as instructed before content grading. Pre-class assignments are due at 23:59 (Taiwan time) on the Sunday before class, and lateness is determined by the Teams record; when Teams does not work and you use a backup, the time of your email or Drive upload counts. From the October 25 assignment on, late work loses 15% of that assignment's marks; the rule is under Assessment & AI.
Weekly case-tool assignments share a 100-point Rubric with four criteria worth 25 points each. The Rubric makes observable evidence clear rather than asking students to guess what the instructor wants. Each weekly Teams assignment will identify the most important focus for that week. The Rubric itself does not grant permission to use AI; follow the instructor's AI-use instruction.

Different class activities will use different tool rules: no electronic devices, no AI, AI allowed, or AI required. Whether you may use AI, and how far you may use it, always follows the instructor’s instructions for that activity. AI cannot replace reading, judgment, verification, or personal responsibility.
The course emphasizes three responsibilities: understanding weekly management concepts, applying them to the case, and explaining how AI was used in learning and assignments. AI is not allowed in quizzes, the midterm, the final exam, or any class activity marked No-AI by the instructor. Formal assignments that use AI must include dialogue records, an AI-use statement, and a note on the student's own revisions.

Pre-Class Reading and Preparation
Before each class, read that week’s chapter from the 18-Week Journey (use “Read weekly handout”). Each chapter is about 4,000 to 5,000 words, or 35–50 minutes of reading. You can use the textbook and assignment animations (Chinese and English), which appear next to the handout link once published. Materials may also include course cases, supplemental materials, and learning materials in Gemini Notebook. Gemini Notebook or other AI tools may support understanding, but students may not copy AI summaries directly. Pre-class AI or Gemini Notebook records are no longer a separate graded item; when preparation must be submitted, the weekly Teams assignment will state the format and requirements.
Weekly In-Class Quizzes
Each class begins with a 12-minute quiz (13:10–13:22) of six questions on Microsoft Forms. The quiz diagnoses understanding: which concepts are confused, which contextual conditions were missed, and which judgments need revision. AI is not allowed during quizzes; you may look up single words in a dictionary or translation tool, and a translation tool does not count as AI. A multiple-select question scores only when all correct options are chosen, in both the weekly quiz and the midterm. There is no quiz in Week 9 (midterm exam) or Week 16 (final exam).

Paste AI case analysis without personal revision and explanation.
Hide AI-use records.
Formal assignments that use AI must include the final assignment file, AI dialogue records, an AI-use statement, a reference list, and a personal revision note. Dialogue records should normally be submitted as Markdown or TXT; follow the latest weekly Teams assignment if it specifies another format. Screenshots alone are not recommended because they are hard to search and compare.
Pre-class assignments are due at 23:59 (Taiwan time) on the Sunday before class, and Microsoft Teams is the main way to submit. Only if you cannot submit in Teams (for example, Teams does not work or your file will not upload), use one of two backups, which count the same and must also be sent before the deadline: (1) email your file to the teacher at sonicopilot@gmail.com with the subject line “CM108G WNN-student ID-name” (replace WNN with the week the assignment was set, for example W07 for the assignment due October 25); or (2) upload it to your own student-ID folder in the Google Drive hand-in folder. From the October 25 assignment on, late work loses 15% of that assignment's marks, and deadlines are checked carefully. For team assignments, follow the subject line given in that week’s assignment.
In-class web worksheets are handed in before you leave: the Recorder selects “Download .txt”, opens the hand-in folder link in the worksheet’s “Hand in before you leave” section, and uploads the file to the folder named with their own student ID; other members do not upload it again. The same folder is used all semester, and each student keeps their own student-ID folder up to date. Worksheets go to Teams only when the teacher asks for it.

Midterm, Final Exam, and Final Case Plan
The midterm and final exam are individual assessments, and AI is not allowed. The midterm takes the first 90 minutes of the Week 9 class (November 2, 2026), and the second 90 minutes cover the Week 8 content; the final exam is in Week 16 (December 21, 2026). The midterm covers Weeks 1–7: the class transcripts and in-class exercises come first, then the online textbook. It has 40 questions, all longer single-choice and multiple-select questions: long situation questions that you need to understand the situation to answer (about 50%), basic concepts and management terms (about 30%), and mini situations (about 20%); multiple-select questions score only when all correct options are chosen. It is on Microsoft Forms, with a paper version available. The exam is out of 150 points; the pass mark is still 60, any score above 100 counts as 100, and the midterm grade is the exam score. The teacher will announce the scope, question types, and device rules for the final exam. The midterm checks the first half of the semester; the final exam checks whether students can integrate semester-long concepts into evidence-based managerial judgment.
