When AI furnishes a room
with everything you've told it

Starting from the "fill this room" meme: how we look for ourselves in an algorithmic mirror, and how a back-and-forth of human and AI decisions sits behind one prompt and one faceless self-portrait.

Narration: Sonic Wu's own cloned voice · Rooms by ChatGPT; illustrations by Gemini, all labeled on screen
A TIMELINE OF IDEAS, NOT DATES

This timeline moves forward by ideas, not by dates

The track along the bottom isn't years but five facets. Each step adds one more idea for reading the room, so viewers think along: why did AI draw this room, and what did we decide to do after seeing it?

Why we ask AI for faceless self-portraits, and how the empty-room meme was born.
The container you pick tints the AI's glasses, and the four dramas that follow seeing the picture.
Self-perception, the self you performed, public commitments, the three-mirror loop.
Algorithmic averaging, the trust–disclosure spiral, the three gaps.
No face, still a jigsaw; third parties, two kinds of memory, checks before posting.

Five lanes: human and AI decisions, side by side

Paste the prompt, gasp, only dare to DM, roll three times, correct the AI, add details, run the four questions.
Pull memory, filter fragments through the container, compress into archetypes, remember new details, draw third parties as easter eggs.
Every room shown in the film, lined up on the track.
Feeling understood" and "privacy alarm": two curves that only illustrate, not measured data.

Four pauses: think first, then watch on

Turn on class mode and the film stops at these four points. None has a single right answer; answer from your own experience with AI.

If you could pick just one container for yourself,
which would it be?
What tint would it put on the AI's glasses?
0:00
In your AI room,
which part of you is missing?
0:00
Of these three gaps,
which one do you overlook most?
0:00
Before the answer:
if it doesn't draw your face,
does that really mean nothing leaked?

Going further: the moment after you see the picture

Before you hit generate, what did you think AI remembered about you? What did you assume it had forgotten or never noticed?
The second the picture appeared, which object first made you think "that's so me"? Why that one?
Was there a detail that wasn't true, yet felt like it "kind of fits"?
Afterwards, did you edit the prompt, correct the AI, delete a memory, or tell it even more about yourself?
If the same room description came from a friend of three years instead of AI, how differently would you trust it?

Two privacy-first prompts, and four questions before posting

Template 1: deep reflection, just for you

Using only information you can confirm from our conversations and memory, and that I have chosen to share, portray me as a room full of objects and symbols. 【Visual limits】 No people, faces, bodies or real photos. 【Strict privacy boundaries】 Never use or show: precise locations, addresses, contact details, account names, financial data, medical or health information, real documents or messages, or anything that could identify my family, partner, colleagues, students, clients or any third party. 【Abstract one level up】 If my workplace, where I live, my relationships or rare experiences could identify me, automatically abstract them one level up (for example a generic "university library", "tech lab", or a symbolic fantasy object instead of real institutions and project names). Objects can be funny and exaggerated, but do not present your guesses as facts; show uncertain parts as abstract images. 【Important: review before drawing】 Do not draw yet! First list, in text, the clues you plan to put in the room, in two columns: 1. "Facts I stated explicitly" 2. "Your reasonable inferences and visual translations" Only after I review and approve, generate the image.

Template 2: social-safe, for posting

I want to make a "fill the room with what you know about me" image that I can share publicly on social media. Use only coarse-grained personal information, such as broad interest categories, my general type of work, thinking habits and abstract values. No people or real photos. Strictly follow these safety rules: 1. No real names of people, companies, schools, cities, dates or schedules anywhere in the image. 2. No clearly readable real documents, emails, notifications or account IDs on book spines, screens, sticky notes, posters or paper. 3. No identifiable information about friends, family, partners, colleagues or any other third party. 4. Use fictional funny book titles, abstract icons, symbols that can't be traced back to me, and exaggerated, humorous props instead.

Four consent questions

Is this data only about me? Does it involve a partner, family, colleagues, students or clients?
For fun, do I really need real names this specific?
Would the others in the picture reasonably expect to be drawn and posted?
Could a stranger piece five easter eggs together to work out who I am, where I live and where I work?

THE ROOMS IN THE FILM

60 ChatGPT rooms, plus 13 Gemini illustrations

ChatGPT drew the rooms from what it knows about me, using 30 prompt types, two images each. Some files don't match their names: 13A and 14A are the same picture, and from 15 on several sets look shifted by one. Captions in the film follow what each image actually shows; file numbers are noted in the credits. It's a small, real example of templating.
